What is Shamanism?

Shamanic healing arts are ancient practices performed by many cultures around the world. They focus on doctoring the soul, and have been around for more than 40,00 years. Shamans work with benevolent compassionate spirits that are eager to find a vehicle to bring their power and wisdom to Earth for healing. Shamans are that vehicle--ordinary people having extraordinary experiences channeling divine healing power and wisdom to people and places of need.

When feeling down, ill, or experiencing any sort of "dis-ease" (absence of ease, in a state of less than optimal wellness), we, in our western culture, tend to first seek psychological or medical care. These approaches to our well-being are important. However, they do not necessary address the whole issue. Frequently, there is a spiritual element to our lack of wellness; often, it is the root cause. When the soul is doctored, other means of care "take hold" and become much more effective. 

When is it time for shamanic healing?

When we feel like we are not quite our selves, feel like we have dense or dark energies hanging around in our lives, when we feel like we are missing a part of ourselves, when we are feeling low, having recurring physical or mental pains or other issues that are interferring with a productive life and well-being...basically, all of us could use some shamanic healing, most of the time!

How I work

I use a unique blend of shamanism, Reiki and sound healing to doctor the soul. When you decide to pursue wellness in this way with me, you will be treated with sacred vibrations of healing sound and songs to enhance the energy systems of the body, mind and spirit for sustained wellness. Voice, drum, rattle, bowls all combine with sacred songs, Reiki, compassionate spiritual help and strong intention to bring about shifts in wellness, changes in beliefs, and elevated soul vibrancy.

Your healing process is always a ceremony. I listen to you, aided by compassionate guides in the spirit realm. Then, my spiritual guidance directs our ceremony to your areas of need. You always know what you need, though it may begin as a vague feeling or nagging thought.

Here is a little more about some of the ceremonial healing you can experience in your sessions with me:

Extractions--Sometimes you may need to have negative, re-occurring emotions, feelings, thoughts, or behaviors addressed and removed. We all get dense energies trapped in us from interactions, events, people or places we encounter. These dense energies can make us feel tired, ill, moody, and can cause addiction, chronic pain, or negative habits. Removing these in ceremony ("extractions") and replacing them with highly vibrant energy, you leave feeling lighter, clearer, fresher, and generally relieved of burdens, darkness, and feelings of ill-at-ease.

Soul Retrieval-- Soul parts, or parts of our spirit essence, can be lost through illness, minor or major trauma, past events. Loss of this essence can cause the feeling that you are "missing" something. This loss frequently results in recurring pain, addiction, and negative behavioral patterns. Soul retrieval recaptures and restores wholeness to this spirit essence that is fully you, and frequently results in alleviating many symptoms.

Power animal retrieval--Accessing an animal spirit for your protection and guidance in life. This process accompanies all of the soul retrievals I perform.

Song Doctoring--Use of song to establish well-being.

Shamanic guidance--A 6-session series where you learn how to access information and engage in your own problem-solving through Shamanic journeying, a core practice in Shamanism.

Reiki treatments-- Reiki is a Japanese modality of energy medicine that reduces stress, aids in relaxation, relieves pain and enhances overall wellness. In my Reiki treatments, sound enhances the vibrational healing that Reiki naturally provides.

For people seeking shamanic healing, I typically will perform an extraction during the first session, then follow up with a soul retrieval. Most people get very excited with the work of the spirits, and continue seeing me for my shamanic guidance series. I have learned some new techniques--soul matrix reconfiguration and soul part maturation--which help alter patterns of pain and distress in a lasting fashion. These treatments are often done after soul retrieval. I also do open format healing sessions, whatever our spirits are guiding us to do at this time.

People seeking Reiki may receive an initial treatment and then return periodically for a nourishing replenishment of the wonderous healing energy of Reiki. They may become excited enough about Reiki to learn how to do Reiki themselves.   I provide training and attunements for people seeking to do Reiki.

I have noticed that once a person sets the intention to come see me, the power and compassionate spirits become engaged, before the person arrives. By the time the appointment rolls around, the healing is greatly in motion.

Lauri is an active practitioner in shamanic sound healing, Reiki Master and ceremonial leader and singer. She has received extensive training and initiations from local, national and international teacher-healers, including Jan Engels-Smith, Colleen Benelli, Michael and Sandra Harner, Betsy Bergstrom, Tom Kenyon, Tom Cowan, Bradford Keeney, Phil Crazy Bull, Paul Ghosthorse & Sarangrell. Lauri is an Associate Teacher / Healer  and Council Member at LightSong School of Shamanic Studies and a founding member of the Society for Shamanic Practitioners. Lauri has been a naturalist/educator for decades and holds a Ph.D. in ecology, which provides a foundation for her relationships with the nature spirits that contribute to the healing and learning that occurs in her practice at Hidden Lake.
